I have no opinion on the effect this will have on his pitching. He may tire easily or he may be as strong as a bull. My question is this: Has there ever been a heavier big league pitcher? Hell, has there been a heavier major leaguer at any position?

Probably not...one guy who got beefy was the Braves third basemen in the early 80's, Bob Horner, but I doubt he got above 260.

Who was the homerun hitter from the 80's, I think he played with the Yanks, he had a really good year or two as a DH...

Cecil Fielder was another, pretty big, but probably not more than 275.

I think Frank Thomas was pushing 275 the last time he waddled to the plate (home plate that is)

Remember, CC is like 6'7-6'8. It isn't like he is 6' and 300lbs

Horner wasn't that fat, but the Braves had a pitcher around that time named Terry Forster who was the size of a baby whale. Letterman referred to him on his show as "a fat tub of goo."

A couple of years ago I read a newspaper article where Indians coaches were talking about some of the funniest things they'd ever seen in a game. Charlie Manuel told a story about a Pacific League game where four runs scored without the ball going out of the infield. Part of the play involved Terry Forster covering home and not being able to jump more than two inches off the ground, and subsequently splitting his pants when he landed. He said it wasn't pretty.
